Launch of Chinatown Wireless Interactive Learning Trail

Developed by Activate for Singapore’s Ministry of Education, the Interactive learning trail at Chinatown is a location-based educational game that offers students an attractive way to learn about Chinatown’s heritage and the Chinese culture. The game was launched today by Ms Grace Fu, Senior Minister of State for National Development and Education.

Students would play the game using dedicated touch-screen mobile tablets enabled with GPS and Wifi, and travel along Chinatown to complete role-playing missions. The game will detect players’ location when they are near specific hotspots along the trail, and activate relevant learning activities such as mini games and quizzes that players can complete to score points while learning the rich history of the place. Throughout the game session, teachers are able to monitor and guide students through a back office application.
